■Hovering

Hovering training helps you maintain neutral buoyancy while remaining stationary in an upright position.

This skill is essential for performing safety stops and decompression stops, so practice repeatedly until you can maintain a constant depth without moving up or down.

Begin in the fin pivot position. Take a slow, deep breath so that your entire body lifts gently off the bottom.

Once neutrally buoyant, adjust your position to remain upright and hover approximately 50 cm above the bottom.

Use breathing as your primary control: exhale slightly if you begin to rise, and inhale gently if you begin to sink.

Use only small BCD adjustments if necessary.
