■ Air Supply and Exhaust Valves
Dry suits are equipped with an air inflator (supply) valve and an exhaust valve to control the volume of air inside the suit.
|
|
The air supply valve is typically located in the center of the chest area and connects to the regulator first stage using a low-pressure hose.
Use the inflator valve to add air to the suit as you descend, equalizing pressure and preventing suit squeeze.
If you feel increasing pressure or tightness as you descend, add small amounts of air as needed.

The exhaust valve is usually located near the left shoulder.
Many exhaust valves automatically release air when internal suit pressure exceeds a preset level.
Some dry suits may also include exhaust valves positioned on the legs or feet.

■ Undergarment (Inner Suit)
Avoid wearing cotton materials, as they lose insulation if moisture enters the suit.
Do not wear clothing with buttons, zippers, or hard accessories that may cause discomfort or pressure marks during suit squeeze.
When using a shell-type dry suit, insulation is provided by the undergarment. Choose an undergarment designed for diving that provides thermal protection while maintaining comfort and flexibility.
Wearing thick undergarments may require additional weight to maintain proper buoyancy control.

■ Weight System
When diving with a dry suit, you will generally require more weight than when using a wetsuit.
Proper weighting is essential to achieve and maintain neutral buoyancy.
Ankle weights or weight vests may be used to improve trim and balance in the water.
Weights worn around the ankles are called ankle weights.

For additional upper-body weighting, weight vests may be used to distribute weight more evenly.
