■Night diving

Experience night diving

Experience the mysterious underwater world at night.

You will discover a completely different environment, including sleeping fish, active nocturnal creatures such as shrimp and crabs, and small organisms shining in the light.

Although it is dark underwater, you will be safe and comfortable if you use an underwater light.

How to perform a night dive

The instructor may set up a course rope at the dive site before the night dive.

This rope will be used as a guide route during the dive.

While the rope is being set, follow the instructor and observe the general layout and marine life at the dive site.

*Note
Night diving is prohibited at some dive sites. Please check local rules in advance.

Hand signals

To signal your buddy or another diver, shine your underwater light toward the diver's body or into the diver's field of vision and move the light gently from side to side.

If the diver still does not notice you, signal by gently touching your buddy's arm.

Avoid touching the diver's fins, as you may accidentally be kicked.

When night diving, hand signals can be made by shining your underwater light on your hands.

If another diver is close to you, shine the light on your chest and make the hand signal in front of your body to avoid shining the light into the diver's face.

Discuss one-handed hand signals with your buddy before diving.
