To reduce these errors, combine natural navigation with compass navigation instead of relying on your compass alone.
If visibility is good, choose a large, distinctive object in the distance, such as a rock formation.
If visibility is limited, swim to a nearby object a few meters ahead. When you reach it, select the next visible target and continue step by step.
By using natural references together with your compass, you improve your navigation accuracy.
