■School of Fish

A large school of fish swimming from mid-water to the surface can create a powerful and dynamic image. Position yourself slightly below the school and shoot upward to emphasize depth and movement.

■Hidden Creatures

Many small fish and marine creatures hide in sand, coral, and rocky areas.

Use the macro (close-up) mode on your digital camera to approach small subjects as closely as possible and capture detailed images.

Move slowly and carefully so you do not frighten the creatures. As you get closer to the subject, the depth of field (front-to-back focus range) becomes very narrow. Stabilize your body firmly to prevent camera shake and maintain accurate focus.

When photographing small hidden fish, approach quietly and wait patiently until they come out into view.
