Dolphin Facts

Before you enter the water, take a moment to learn a little more about dolphins. Understanding their behavior can help you recognize special moments while maintaining safe and respectful interaction.

Dolphins are curious and may swim alongside boats, especially in areas where they are comfortable and undisturbed. If dolphins continue to stay near the boat even when the speed is reduced, it may indicate curiosity.

Even if dolphins appear to “invite” interaction, never approach them suddenly or attempt to touch them. Quick movements can be perceived as threatening and may cause dolphins to move away.

The best approach is simple: stay calm, keep your distance, and allow dolphins to choose how close they come.

Remain calm and observe from a respectful distance

Dolphins do not rely only on vision. They also use sound to “see” their surroundings through a process called echolocation. Dolphins produce clicks and listen to the echoes that bounce back from objects, which helps them understand shape, distance, and movement.

Underwater, these clicks may sound like a faint “tick-tick” or “chirping” noise.
