Practice swimming in a straight line using a compass.
1 |
Mark your starting point at your fins.
2 |
Select a target in the direction you want to travel.
3 |
Hold the compass correctly and align your body with the lubber line,
pointing toward your target.
| |
4 |
Rotate the bezel so that the north end of the magnetic needle
is positioned between the index marks.
5 |
Keep the needle aligned between the index marks.
Swim straight for 10 fin kicks while following the lubber line,
then stop.
| |
6 |
To return to the starting point,
turn your body until the south end of the magnetic needle
is positioned between the index marks.
7 |
Keep the needle aligned and swim straight
for the same number of fin kicks (10) back toward your starting point.
8 |
Confirm that you have returned to your original position.
9 |
If successful, increase the distance and continue practicing
to improve accuracy.
