■ Fin Failure
If a fin strap breaks or a fin is lost underwater, normal propulsion may not be possible.
Remain calm and adjust your swimming technique to maintain control and buoyancy.
You may place the finless foot lightly against the finned foot and perform a slow, controlled dolphin-style kick, or rely primarily on the finned leg while using the other leg for balance and stability.
Ascend in a controlled manner while maintaining proper buoyancy and monitoring your air supply.

■ Mask Failure
If a mask strap breaks or the mask becomes dislodged, water may flood the mask.
Hold the mask firmly in place with one hand to minimize water entry and maintain clear vision as much as possible.
If necessary, begin a controlled ascent while continuing to breathe normally through your regulator.
Regular practice of breathing without a mask will help you remain calm and comfortable should this situation occur. Training exercises such as mask removal and replacement build confidence and control underwater.
