■ Drifting
If you are carried away from the boat or shore by current, remain calm and avoid excessive swimming, which can quickly lead to fatigue.
Establish and maintain positive buoyancy by fully inflating your BCD and conserve energy while waiting for assistance.
Dive boats and local rescue teams are typically familiar with current patterns and search procedures, and they will begin recovery efforts promptly.
If air remains in your cylinder and you are able to maintain buoyancy with your BCD, there is no need to release your weights.
If drifting in a group, stay together. Form a tight circle or cluster to increase visibility and make it easier for rescuers to locate you.
