Drift Diving

There are two common types of boat diving: anchored boat diving (the boat remains in position using an anchor or mooring) and drift diving (the boat does not anchor and follows the divers).

Drift diving is used when currents are present or when the dive plan requires the boat to move with the group.

On a boat, space can be limited and the deck may move with waves. Move carefully, maintain good footing, and keep your equipment secured.

Boat dives are often conducted in areas with current. Listen carefully to the boat crew and instructor briefing, follow the planned procedures, stay with your buddy/team, and avoid acting independently.
