■ Dive Preparation

Before the dive, review the dive plan with the captain/crew, dive leader, and your buddy/team. Confirm:

• Entry and exit procedures
• Descent and ascent methods
• Planned underwater route
• Maximum depth and bottom time
• Hand/light signals and recall signals
• Buddy roles and positioning
• Emergency procedures

Briefing

On small boats, space is limited and movement is affected by waves. Whenever possible, assemble and secure your scuba unit before departure.

On larger boats, assemble equipment only when instructed by the crew.

After setup, secure cylinders in a tank rack or lay them down safely to prevent rolling or impact.
